Many people know the marvelous story of David and Goliath -- a tremendous story that clearly testifies the might of God in favor of his chosen people. As a veteran warrior, Goliath had a lot of experience that made him the best intimidator on the enemy’s side. In addition and even more remarkably, the giant was untouchable and invincible by human’s standards.
Obviously the giant threatened the Israelites who were powerless and deeply terrified before him. "On hearing [his] words, Saul and all the Israelites were dismayed and terrified." (1 Samuel 17:11 -- NIV) Apparently, the Israelites found themselves in a desperate situation -- humanly speaking at least. Despite the terror of the enemy, David said to King Saul '"Let no one lose heart [...]"' And he meant it.
Then David said to Goliath, '"You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the LORD Almighty [...] There whole world will know that there is a God in Israel. [...] it is not by sword or spear that the LORD saves; for the battle is the LORD's [...] (1 Samuel 17:47-47 NIV).
You know the end of the story; the LORD gave victory to his people.
When facing with unbearable trials, don't lose heart even though our natural tendency compels us to do the opposite. In fact, face the trials in the name of the LORD Almighty rather than isolating yourself and leaning on your limited abilities.
As you read these thoughts, take the opportunity you have today to accept Jesus as your personal savior before it's too late.

Pray! It's Worth it

In the introduction of his sermon, Deacon Ahmi Sainvilier linked his message with quality time to support the title of the sermon -- Spend Time with God. However the truth of the matter is oftentimes busyness with work, for instance, gets in the way.
Referring to Mark 1:29 - 34, brother Ahmi explained that Jesus had such a busy schedule. In fact, in the context of this passage, one can notice that immediately after leaving the synagogue, he went on to heal Peter's mother-in-law; then, "... That evening after sunset the people brought to Jesus all the sick and demon-possessed. The whole town gathered at the door..." (v. 32-33 NIV)
Despite his difficult schedule, Jesus made it a priority to pray and would do so at the right time. As brother Ahmi was considering the text of Mark 1:35-39, he put an emphasis on verse 35. "Very early in the morning while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed." (NIV)
Here are some lessons to remember from this message preached from the pulpit of Grace Haitian Alliance Church on Sunday, April 29:
- "On some occasions one may need to be away from family members as he or she wants to spend some serious time in prayer."
- "On some occasions, you have to shed some tears before God in [in prayer], and you need to be alone with God."
- "It is worth it to spend some time with Jesus in prayer."
- "When you spend time in prayer, people will look for you like they were looking for Jesus."
- "Prayer should be a priority for the Christian..."
What about you who have not accepted Jesus Christ into your life yet? Yes, you... Don't delay; accept him today as your personal savior.

Proclamant la Résurrection du Fils de Dieu

Dans son sermon titré Résurrection de Christ, Evidence Irréfutable, Pasteur Joseph Ernest Lainé a mis l’emphase sur l’importance de la résurrection de Jésus Christ vis-à-vis de la foi Chrétienne.
Tout au début du message, il a fait les déclarations suivantes :
· La résurrection est la base de la religion Chrétienne.
· La résurrection affirme que Jésus est réellement le fils de Dieu.
· La résurrection [témoigne que] l’œuvre du salut est complète.
· La résurrection affirme que Jésus reviendra pour juger le monde.
Se basant sur Luc 24 :13-33, il a réfléchi un peu sur l’expérience de deux disciples découragés qui voyageaient sur le chemin d’Emmaüs …. Ces derniers furent désappointés, désespérés et confus au sujet de la résurrection du Christ.
Leur confusion préoccupait Jésus qui s’est apparu à eux sur la route. Alors Jésus leur accompagna et causa avec eux sur leur parcours jusqu'à leur demeure. Qui plus est, Jésus dissipa leur doute. Quel privilège ! Jésus se montra à eux non seulement pour confirmer sa résurrection, mais aussi pour fortifier leur foi.
Selon Pasteur Lainé, pour comprendre la résurrection, il faut comprendre que Dieu avait un plan bien déterminé pour racheter l’humanité. « La résurrection fait partie du plan eternel », a-t-il poursuivi.
A l’occasion du culte de cet avant-dernier dimanche d’avril, Dieu a beau utilisé Pasteur Lainé pour proclamer son message.
Chers lecteurs, croyez en Jésus aujourd’hui si vous n’avez pas encore mis votre confiance en lui.

Jean-Claude Duvalier Retourne au bercail

On dirait que c’était un rêve. Dans l’un de ses bulletins d’informations de 10 minutes, Radio France Internationale en a fait la confirmation: Jean-Claude Duvalier est de retour en Haïti après quelque 25 ans d’exil. L’avion qui le transportait a atterri à l’aéroport international Toussaint Louverture le dimanche 16 janvier 2011.
D’après Henry Guerrier de Signal FM, à part du comité d’accueil, il y avait une grande foule qui l’attendait au-dehors, y compris des jeunes qui furent dans leur enfance ou leur adolescence au moment de son départ forcé en 1986.
Baby Doc revient en Haïti à un moment ou le pays se trouve dans un contexte très délicat du point de vue social, sans oublier toutes les crises qui paralysent le pays dont la crise électorale du 28 novembre 2010.
Il faut aussi mettre en perspective la fin prochaine du mandat de René Préval par rapport à ce bizarre retour au bercail de l’ancien dictateur haïtien. A priori, on peut qualifier ce retour historique de provocation, surtout pour le président en place qui hait l’exil avec une passion aussi bien que l’armée d’Haïti.
En passant, dans l’ironie la plus parfaite, le président Préval ferait un geste hautement patriotique d’accueillir cet enfant prodigue... Car, d’ailleurs, il est évident que la barbe de M. Préval lui-même est à la trempe.
Sérieusement les enjeux sont divers et les interrogations sont complexes. Au lieu de demander pourquoi est-il revenu au pays, espérons qu’il dévoile véritablement ses intentions à la nation.
Au milieu de la surprise, de l’euphorie, et des interrogations, soyez la bienvenue M. Jean-Claude Duvalier.

First Vacation Bible School in 18 years
By Hertz Clyde DézirResponding to Daniel Jean Jr. and Child Evangelism Fellowship missionary Kathy Bavec 's invitation, four girls accepted Christ at the Vacation Bible School held at Grace Haitian Alliance Church this July. That's the most significant result that one can remember from that weeklong event ; so, this was a strong sign of success.
For the most part, the kids were passionate to come everytime from July 12 - 16 as long as they had a ride from their parents. Not only did parents bring their children, they helped as much as possible in preparing refreshments that were served at the end of the program. Their generosity went from financial donations to ordering chickens for the kids. On top of their generosity, most adults, if not all, didn't miss a day.
At first, the idea of having a VBS didn't raise much enthusiasm from the Sunday School Department and everyone involved. "Initially I was skeptical about the success of the vacation Bible School," said Pastor Joel Métellus, Sunday School Superintendant. Eventually, Pastor Métellus was rejoicing greatly for the success of the program. Furthermore, parents and kids alike wished the event lasted more than just a week.
In addition to the support on the part of parents, teachers such as Daniel Jean Jr., Jasmith Joseph, Joanne Sainvilier, and Renée Metellus took time to teach the kids around the theme "Beginnings" based on Genesis 1 - 9. Teachers' assistants and other volunteers gave their contribution as well.
Grace Haitian Alliance Church has never had a VBS; so the first one in its 18 years of existence was a good start. The kids already anticipate another one next year - hopefully a VBS that will have more conversions and more kids in the attendance altogether. Likewise, many parents who brought their kids this year look forward to next summer.
Josette Dézir, the event's coordinator, praised God feverishly for the success of the VBS although she hoped that more children would be accepted Jesus. Prior to the VBS, Josette has prayed over and over concerning the activity. Not only did she pray during family devotions, but she's also asked prayer warriors at the church repeatedly to intercede on behalf of the event.
Praise God, VBS 2010 was a success!
